The best “anti-crisis” flagship smartphone of 2019 – Honor 20 Pro
More recently, the Honor 20 Pro seemed the last, “posthumous” Huawei smartphone. But in fact, the Chinese company continues to live, relations with the United States are gradually improving, and as a moral compensation for their adventures, Honor reduces the price of flagship smartphones to a minimum. And now, it seems, we have a new king of budget flagships.
It is unlikely that Honor seriously collaborated with the fashion house Moschino. Usually this is a level collaboration:
– Guys, we want to use your prestigious logo in advertising our smartphones?
“No problem, friends.” Pour money into that suitcase.

But the colors of Honor 20 and 20 Pro are so cool that you begin to believe in the involvement of a high fashion house in this smartphone. Any non-Huawei smartphones in terms of color saturation and unusual color look much more boring in 2019. It seems that the two varieties of Honor 20 seem identical in appearance, but if the ordinary Honor 20 has a plastic insert between the glass on the back side and the side frame, then the older model has a rounded glass and immediately goes into this side frame. This is a trifle, but the phone becomes much more convenient to hold in your hand.

The front panel looks cool. The “leaky” display gives the very sense of framelessness that cannot be achieved with the help of “monobrow”. And the camera on the desktop can be hidden with the help of funny wallpapers.
You will probably write in the comments that it would be even better to install a moving or PTZ camera, but do not forget that moving elements are the first thing that comes into disrepair with smartphones over time, and even such tricks will make the smartphone more expensive.
At the back, everything is quite simple: three cameras are located in one module, which protrudes a millimeter and a half from the body, but the flash and the fourth camera are overboard of this protrusion.
A good Chinese flagship without overpaying for excess power. Smartphone review OPPO Reno Z
While most manufacturers are sculpting a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device or trying to integrate it into the display itself, Honor decided to place the scanner in the power button. Firstly, it is cheap, and secondly, the scanner is located in the most convenient place for its installation, because the usual grip immediately puts your finger in place.
Once Sony was the first to implement this function, but they already abandoned it – in the current Xperia, the scanner and button on the sidewall are located separately.
If you didn’t see the headphone jack in the photo, you can rest assured that it really isn’t in the Honor 20 Pro, although the smartphone is not the thinnest on the market, it is not burdened with water protection and the mini jack could easily fit. But in the kit there is an adapter for headphones.
There is no memory card slot. Not at all. If the Huawei P30 Pro installed at least the Huava standard Nano-SD, here they decided not to bother. But this is offset by the gigantic 256 GB of internal memory.
Screen and system design
The 6.26 “IPS display occupies almost 92% of the total front panel area. Surprisingly, the screen does not feel elongated. From afar, it even looks like some kind of good old display with a 16: 9 ratio, although the true aspect ratio – 19.5: 9. Whether the absence of a huge “chin” and “bangs” influences perception in such a way is unclear, but more likely than not.
Maximum brightness level (min./max.) 456/8 cd / m2
Contrast (more = better) 1200: 1
Color gamut (sRGB) (90-100% – ideal, more = worse) 100%
DeltaE (less = better) 2.8
Gamma (ideal – 2.2) 2.1
Color temperature (ideal = 6500K) 7000K
A good smartphone that you don’t notice due to worship of the “Chinese” – LG G8s ThinQ
The display itself, even though IPS, is quite good. Color reproduction is almost perfect, brightness is enough with a margin, contrast is within normal limits. But viewing angles could be better – if you look at the smartphone at an angle, you will see inverted black color (as on film negatives). It looks awful. It’s clear that the display in the Honor 20 Pro was packed for change from cameras, but what would be excusable for Redmi Note 7 for 14 thousand rubles, for more than 2 times the large amount is already annoying. Especially when Xiaomi Mi 8 / Mi Mix 2S is scattered in online stores for 20 thousand rubles, which have no such problems.
